Description :
20th Century Playbill Cabaret Issue with Broadway Legends 1967 Up for auction is a singular treasure from the heart of Broadway’s
transformative era—a 1967 original Playbill issued for the historic Cabaret
production at the Broadhurst Theatre, an artifact bursting with the artistic
forces that redefined musical storytelling. This release is far from generic—it
documents the very specific cast and creative contributors involved in this
exact staging. Featured is Penny Fuller in the role of Sally Bowles, capturing
the character’s complexities with grace and edge after joining the cast in
mid-1967. The unforgettable Jack Gilford brings warmth and poignancy to Herr
Schultz, a role that echoes his acclaimed performances in A Funny Thing Happened
on the Way to the Forum. Legendary Lotte Lenya, embodying Fraulein
Schneider with her haunting presence and signature vocal timbre, draws on her
lifetime of collaboration with Kurt Weill to shape one of the most iconic
portrayals in Broadway history. Guiding the production’s tone and structure was theatrical visionary
Harold Prince, both producer and director, whose influence permeated every
corner of the stage. The daring choreography was masterminded by Ronald Field,
blending seductive cabaret aesthetics with evocative movement that earned him
the Tony for Best Choreography. Musical direction was helmed by Boris Kogan,
seamlessly orchestrating John Kander and Fred Ebb’s trailblazing score. Scenic designer
Boris Aronson injected symbolic intensity through his stylized and moody set
pieces, while costume designer Patricia Zipprodt furnished the cast with
authentic and expressive wardrobe that echoed the Weimar-era narrative.
Lighting designer Jean Rosenthal shaped the atmosphere with masterful shadow
and color, transforming every scene into a psychological tableau. Shipping Available: See “Learn
