Description :
1973 Curran Theatre Playbill – Margaret’s Gone With The Wind This rare and original Playbill from the Curran Theatre’s October 23, 1973 premiere of Margaret’s Gone With The Wind is a singular theatrical treasure from the archives of the San Francisco Civic Light Opera Association. Presented by British impresario Harold Fielding and under the presidency of Allen L. Chickering, this production was a bold and imaginative reworking of Southern Gothic themes, staged exclusively for San Francisco audiences. Directed and choreographed by the Tony-winning Joe Layton, the production featured a stellar cast led by Lesley Ann Warren and Pernell Roberts, whose performances anchored the emotional core of the show. They were joined by Terence Monk and Udana Power, both of whom brought dynamic presence and vocal strength to the ensemble. Additional cast members included John Graham, Robert Yacko, Marilyn Clark, Barbara Lang, David Rounds, and Michael Kermoyan, each contributing to the rich dramatic and musical tapestry of the performance. The creative team behind the scenes was equally distinguished. Scenic design was crafted by Douglas Schmidt, whose work evoked the grandeur and decay of the Old South. Costume design was by Freddy Wittop, known for his opulent and historically resonant creations. Lighting design was executed by Thomas Skelton, whose atmospheric work enhanced the show’s emotional depth. Musical direction was led by Jack Lee, with orchestrations by Philip J. Lang, ensuring a lush and expressive soundscape. Production management was overseen by William Ross, with Robert L. Berman serving as stage manager. Casting was coordinated by Michael Shurtleff, and press representation was handled by Solters & Sabinson, a firm renowned for its theatrical publicity. Advertising and marketing were managed by Frankie Hewitt Associates, helping to position the show as a marquee event in the 1973 San Francisco arts calendar. This Playbill is not a reproduction, but a genuine production-issued piece from the original run—ideal for collectors of regional theatre ephemera, fans of Joe Layton, and historians of American musical theatre. It reflects the full scope of the production’s artistry and the collaborative excellence of its cast and crew. Shipping Available: See “Learn
